Bio of Mr. Aaron Sams, PMP, MCM, (USAF Vet.)
Owner/Senior Consultant - Sams Contracting Consulting and Training LLC

Mr. Aaron Sams is an Operation Iraqi Freedom/Operation Enduring Freedom veteran who began his career in the United States Air Force where he served as a contracting officer in charge of acquisitions for commodities, services, and construction related projects. Beginning in November of 2002, Mr. Sams served six years in the United States while being stationed at Sheppard AFB located in Wichita Falls TX. During his time in the United States Air Force, Mr. Sams was deployed to Ali Al Salem Kuwait, and the International Zone (IZ) located in Baghdad Iraq. After completing his term of service and separating from the Air Force in the winter of 2008, Mr. Sams utilized his government contracting experience administering subcontracts for The Shaw Group, a large Fortune 500 company that provides environmental remediation, energy efficiency, base operations, and infrastructure services. Mr. Sams was responsible for identifying, soliciting, and awarding subcontracts to small businesses in support of projects being performed in support of the Air Force Enterprise Sourcing Group, located in San Antonio TX.

Mr. Sams was then offered a position at the Small Business Development Center/Contracting Resource Center in 2010, where he began as a Senior Business Development Specialist under the Veterans Assistance and Services Program (VASP). In this capacity, Mr. Sams assisted Veteran entrepreneurs who required assistance starting a small business, obtaining financing, and learning how to pursue contracting opportunities with local, state, and federal agencies. After serving in this position for one year, Mr. Sams was promoted to the position of project manager within the Small Business Development Center/Contracting Resource Center in 2011. In this position, Mr. Sams continued to utilize his government contracting experience by providing 1-on-1 counseling services to all small businesses, and conducting training seminars geared towards vendors who were interested in doing business with private, local, state, and federal entities.


In October of 2012 after experiencing a tremendous amount of success working at the Small Business Development Center, Mr. Sams chose to expand the depth and the extent of the counseling assistance that he offers to small businesses throughout the United States. Mr. Sams decided to follow his dreams by founding "Sams Contracting Consulting & Training," which specializes in helping entrepreneurs to achieve their business goals and dreams by providing innovate training seminars and consulting services in the areas of contracting, procurement, and project management. Mr. Sams is currently serving as an Adjunct Professor for Alamo Community Colleges teaching business, contracting, and project management courses in conjunction with the City of San Antonio’s grant funded “Small Business Boot Camp” program.
